That works when the corruption is limited to the container, but when the underlying picture data (the mdat) is damaged, those tools tend to produce a file with coloured bands and digital noise rather than a clean result. This is a well-documented failure mode: an AI repair pass needs intact frames to work from; it can't invent the pixels that are gone.
